NanoSen and Sarcomere Dynamics have announced a technology collaboration to advance tactile sensing in robotic manipulation systems. The partnership combines NanoSen’s force sensing technology with Sarcomere Dynamics’ high-dexterity robotic grippers and robotic hands to enable robots to perceive and respond to physical interaction with objects in real time.

The collaboration focuses on integrating NanoSen’s ultra-thin force sensors into robotic end-effectors, allowing robotic systems to detect force distribution and contact dynamics during object manipulation. This capability is an important step toward more intelligent and adaptive robotic systems.

Enabling Robotic Sense of Touch

Modern robotics is rapidly moving beyond simple position and force control. To handle delicate, irregular, or unpredictable objects, robots must be able to perceive how they interact with their environment.

Tactile sensing enables robots to detect:

  • contact points between the gripper and an object
  • how force is distributed across the gripping surface
  • changes in pressure during manipulation

This information allows robotic systems to adapt their grip in real time, improving both precision and safety when handling objects.

Integrating Advanced Force Sensing into Robotic Grippers

Sarcomere Dynamics develops advanced robotic manipulation systems designed to perform complex tasks that conventional robotic grippers cannot handle. Their portfolio includes systems such as the Scorpion Gripper and highly dexterous robotic hands capable of intricate manipulation tasks.

Through this collaboration, NanoSen’s ultra-thin sensors will be integrated into robotic gripper surfaces to enable distributed force sensing across the contact area. The sensors are based on PNC materials that change impedance under mechanical load, enabling highly sensitive and stable force detection.

This integration allows robotic systems to measure force distribution directly at the point of contact, significantly improving control and responsiveness during manipulation tasks.

Demonstration at Hannover Messe 2026

The technology collaboration between NanoSen and Sarcomere Dynamics will be showcased at Hannover Messe 2026, taking place from April 20 to April 24 in Hannover, Germany.

Both companies will present a demonstration of a Sarcomere Dynamics robotic gripper integrated with NanoSen’s force sensing technology, illustrating how tactile sensing can enhance robotic manipulation and enable more precise interaction with objects.

The demonstration highlights the potential of combining advanced sensing technologies with high-dexterity robotic systems to create the next generation of intelligent automation solutions.

Advancing Intelligent Robotics

As robotics continues to evolve, tactile sensing will play an increasingly important role in enabling robots to interact more effectively with their environment.

By combining NanoSen’s sensing technology with Sarcomere Dynamics’ robotic manipulation systems, the collaboration aims to bring robotic systems closer to human-like perception and dexterity.

This partnership represents an important step toward more capable and adaptive robotic manipulation in industrial and research environments.
